These are works created while I was a student at the Academy for Arts, Science, and Technology from 2012-2014.
My 2014 Artist’s Statement
Art, for me, is a way to explore the mind. An outlet to expunge emotional turmoil. Yes, my art is dark. Yes, it can be disturbing. But this is what I love. That uncomfortable, creeping feeling that one gets when looking at something grotesque or odd. That inability to look away. The fascination of the abomination. This is what I take to heart when creating the majority of my art. Experimentation is another key aspect of my work; I despise the mundane, the ordinary. So I try to do new things, use different media, or try different techniques. My style is not quite yet defined, but it is still developing with every new piece. With every artwork, a piece of myself is infused with paint or ink or the lead and becomes a tangible thing for all the world to see. And to me, that is both terrifying and comforting.
